Whats up with Twitters Navigation Redesign?
Posted: Feb 18, 02:23 PMI just logged on to Twitter and noticed the new navigation redesign that was launched. I have no idea if this was a wide scale launch or if they are pushing it out to small batches of users at a time. I can however tell you that I am not a huge fan of it at all.
As you can see from the above image Twitter has added a much needed search box on to the top portion of the page. Unfortunately to do this they had to sacrifice screen real estate in the navigation portion of the site causing the developers to reduce the size of the navigation text to compensate this larger than needed search field.
The worst part about the revamped navigation is that the search button obviously does not line up with the search field box in all browsers. This is an incredibly rookie mistake for a company that just received over 30 million dollars in funding.
As much as I love Twitter, I have to say I am a little disappointed that no one ran this through the old QA machine to spot these errors beforehand.
