Mercy Reef Lives... Sorta

Jul 14, 11:51 PM

I haven't really had time to play with Joost that much. Work has just been hectic and I really haven't had a chance to do anything. When I do use Joost, it is mostly to let my daughter watch some of the animal documentaries.

Tonight I was bored and I decided to site down and enjoy whatever was on the new digital boob tube. I was pleasently surprised to find the WB's canceled would-be hit series Mercy Reef on their Joost Sci-Fi channel (WB's Sci-Fi Fix). The shows name has been changed to Aquaman and I cannot, for the life of me, figured out why the CW passed up this show. For the love of god, Ving Rhames!

Here's hoping they add all of their old shows that have bit the big on to Joost. I wouldn't mind catching up on Birds of Prey. :)

The Real Mystery of LOST

Jun 27, 03:31 PM

So I have finally started watching ABC's Lost. Now I know I'm a little behind the time but I figured "What the hell?" and finally gave this brilliant show a try.

Now, I'm a huge fan of almost all things TV related and I can forgive a lot of plot holes and storyline errors but Lost has a few that I just can't let go of. The main one, the one that gnaws at me every time I sit down to watch an episode, the question that haunts me while I sleep, the question I spend hours (well... minutes) each day thinking about is this:

Where the hell are they getting all of these torches from?!

I need to know! This one little ridiculous plot hole is almost enough to ruin the whole show for me. If someone knows, please fill me in because I just can't seem to figure out how everyone magically seems to have a touch ever time the sun drops on our favorite crazy little island!

Sanctuary

Mar 28, 11:48 AM

"Sanctuary is a web-based science fiction series starring Amanda Tapping, Robin Dunne, Emilie Ullerup & Chris Heyerdahl. Fusing stunning visual effects, video game technology and cutting edge web design, Sanctuary takes the viewer into a thrilling world where science meets the supernatural. This fictional online universe fills the void left by traditional network television by providing multiple High Definition resolutions, immersive interaction, and direct communication between the viewer and the Sanctuary creative team."

I have been looking forward to Sanctuary ever since I first read about it on GateWorld.net. Sanctuary will be of the Interweb's first big budget web sci-fi show! Also, how can you not love Amanda Tapping? After spending 10 years watching Amanda play Samantha Carter on both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, I would be willing to watch any show she was in. She is just an incredible actress!

After browsing through the Sanctuary site today I found a entry in their FAQ that states the show will be accessible for streaming via Adobe's Flash 9 player. I'm hugely dissapointed in this as I hate Flash with a passion... I know what you're thinking, what kind of web developer hates Flash? Well... that would be me!

Personally, as far as digital media is concerned there are other resources available that can be viewed amongst all users of all platforms such as Divx and Xvid. I guess no one told the Sanctuary guys that Divx, Inc. would give them a free serial numbers for the Divx Pro software if they used the Divx videos on their website. Also with the release of the Divx Web Player way back when (last year) there is no reason not to offer Divx/Xvid content!

I guess I'll just never understand why people keep flocking to Flash.
