New Toys For Rocco

Well, I planed on adding streaming video to my websites and I am unhappy with solutions like YouTube. I am just not pleased with Flash Video whatsoever! After doing some searching around I found something that completely annoyed the heck out of me since I totally missed its released. Divx Web Player. After a bit of messing around, I finally found a way to integrate the code into Textpattern so all I have to do is add the URL to the video and it is good to go. No more writing the code out by hand, we’re on cruise control! ;)

Now we can have nice, higher quality, streaming video files without the blocky artifacts that you would receive from streaming Flash video or the fuzzy blurry video you would get with Windows Media Video. What is even better, it works perfectly fine with Xvid videos as well so you don’t have to worry about purchasing the Divx bundle if you wanted to encode videos for your site. For those that do not know, the Xvid codec is a free/opensource MPEG-4 codec. As a present to all of you, I will now entertain you with a nice Keith and The Girl cartoon I had laying around that I encoded for KATG. To view the video, click the “read more” link. Before doing so, I warn you ahead of time that while humorous, it is more adult comedy oriented.
